Bierbaum-Proenen and FIEGE celebrate 25-year collaboration
Cologne-based work clothing manufacturer, Bierbaum-Proenen and Greven-based logistics company, FIEGE have been enjoying their successful collaboration for a quarter of a century. Both family businesses have continuously expanded their cooperation over the past 25 years – and look forward to a shared future. Thursday marked a day of celebrating at the FIEGE location in Greven Reckenfeld.
Successful collaboration: Cologne-based Bierbaum-Proenen, a company steeped in tradition and a leading manufacturer of work clothing and work protection under the BP brand, has been relying on the logistical expertise of the FIEGE Group for 25 years. The contract logistics specialist from the Münsterland oversees all inbound and outbound logistics processes as well as comprehensive value-added services for BP at its Greven-Reckenfeld branch. FIEGE has continuously automated logistics applications over the past years. An intelligent robotic arm has been filling the fully-automated pouch sorter since the end of 2023.
Harald Goost, who manages the seventh-generation BP family business founded in 1788 as a Managing Partner, explains: “Sustainability is a fundamental value for us which is why we count on long-term partnerships. We have found a partner in FIEGE who makes sure that our clients, who come from many different industries, can count on maximum availability and total delivery reliability.” Maik Friedrichs, Goost’s Partner at BP’s Management, adds: “The BP brand stands for strong work clothing solutions that make working safer, more comfortable and easier. Thanks to our now 25 years of partnership with FIEGE, this quality promise is equally valid for our service and logistics segment.”
On around 10,000 square metres, FIEGE handles the warehouse and shipping logistics for everything from raw materials to a fully functional product for BP. Gerrit Heinke, who has worked for BP at FIEGE since the very first hour and who by now is the Area Manager in charge, says: “We steer the global shipping of raw materials like fabric rolls, yarn, buttons or zippers from Greven. We supply all of BP’s production sites. The finished garments are then returned here where we store them until they are shipped to clients across Europe.”
Depending on the requirement, custom patches or prints are added to the products at FIEGE’s own sewing shop. The Greven-based logistics company also handles other value-added services such as labelling, the outside packaging, quality controls and processes in preparation of customs clearance. Meike Schmidt-Krenz, Managing Director at FIEGE’s Consumer Products business division explains: “We are very grateful for the immense trust that our client BP has been placing in us for by now a quarter of a century. Our two family businesses have always been united by our focus on customer orientation, sustained growth and cooperative partnership.”
