The logistics company FIEGE invests in its location in Bülach. In close proximity to Zurich airport, an additional multi-user centre has been built for clients operating in eCommerce, fashion, FMCG and the industry. On the occasion of the grand opening last Friday, some 70 guests had been invited, including Carmen Walker Späh, member of the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich.

Space to grow: The contract logistics expert FIEGE has completed its new logistics centre in Bülach. An additional 17,000 square metres of logistics space spread across two floors have been created adjacent to the existing location to the north of Zurich. The logistics centre was officially opened during a small opening ceremony held last Friday.

Carmen Walker Späh, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich, was one of the speakers: “The Canton of Zurich is the driving force behind Switzerland. To stay ahead in the international competition amongst business locations, long-term investments by innovative enterprises like FIEGE are crucial. After all, logistics is not only an essential part of our lives, but also a mainstay of our national economy and our prosperity. I am therefore thrilled about FIEGE ’s clear commitment to the location of Bülach and would like to congratulate the entire team on this opening.”

The new FIEGE property has been built to high energy-efficiency standards and meets the Gold certification of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The modern logistics centre is equipped, amongst other things, with an on-demand LED lighting system and an energy-efficient air-source heat pump. Vinko Castrogiovanni, Managing Director FIEGE Southern Europe & Alps, explained: “Bülach has been our base for many years, and we feel very much at home here. With this new building, we will be able to target the various requirements of our clients even more specifically. Thanks to many different automation options, we can ensure maximum flexibility and long-term prospects for growth for them. A special thank you goes to the Canton of Zurich and the municipality of Bülach for giving us permission to expand our location further, so that today, we can celebrate this important milestone for FIEGE Switzerland.”

Jens Fiege, Co-CEO of the FIEGE Group who has been running the more than 150-year-old enterprise as a fifth-generation family business jointly with his cousin, Felix Fiege, added: “For us as a logistics provider it is essential to be present right where our clients are aiming to be successful. In Switzerland, we have had the privilege of being able to rely on trusting partnerships with businesses from many different sectors for more than 25 years. And we are extremely excited to launch a second multi-user centre here in Bülach, which affords us the opportunity to level up support for our clients and their strategic expansion even more.”
