Start of construction of Fiege's new logistics property in Zaandam

Logistikimmobilie Zaandam

FIEGE is building a new logistics hub in the province of North Holland. By August 2022, Zaandam, which is north of Amsterdam, will see around 43,000 square metres of warehouse space being built. Excavations started at the end of October 2021. By now, the first piles have been inserted into the ground for the building’s foundation, and construction of the building will begin soon. The facility’s anchor tenant, FIEGE’s Dutch subsidiary Fiege B.V., will use the location to consolidate a large part of its clients’ business and take up the office space for its new head office. Both the general contractor, Goldbeck Nederland B.V. and Clarion Partners Europe, an investment company, are project partners.

The additional new building with its four warehouse sections will be built in the immediate vicinity of FIEGE’s current branch in Zaandam which will remain in operation for future use. The nearby container terminals of the Port of Amsterdam as well as Schiphol airport make this location an ideal hub in one of Europe’s strongest economic regions. “We are thrilled to develop our cutting-edge logistics centre by drawing on the expertise and support from our Fiege Real Estate team. Construction is progressing precisely according to schedule”, Peter van Dop, Managing Director Fiege B.V. says.

Certified sustainability standard

The property will be built and certified according to the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard. “Following close co-ordination with the municipality of Zaanstad, we are called on to adapt the exterior design of the new logistics centre to a modern aesthetic, to create harmony with its natural environment. We are now very much looking forward to our construction project gaining momentum and its implementation in the months to come”, Dop explains. To create an inviting working climate, the building will be infused with natural light and, in a bid to advance electric mobility, will feature multiple EV charging points. Moreover, FIEGE greatly values that the outdoor areas feature native plants.
