FIEGE acquires world fashion logistics
The Fiege Group has taken over World Fashion Logistics (WFL) to expand its contract logistics operations in Asia. The family business based in Greven in Westphalia now owns 100 per cent of the shares in WFL. WFL operates a logistics site in Shanghai and provides logistical services in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia as well as Turkey for eCommerce, retail, fashion and luxury brands.
“The takeover of WFL further reinforces our operations in the Asian market – which is an important market for us – and lets us expand our expertise in textile quality inspection”, says Alfred Messink, member of the Executive Board of the Fiege Group. “In future, we will be able to support our customers even more closely in such important markets as China and Southeast Asia as well as Turkey starting at the point of production, while raising the values along the supply chain. Also, we are very much looking forward to adding many new accounts from the eCommerce and luxury brand sector.”
The first contact with WFL took place as far back as 2015, Messink explains. Ever since, Fiege had been observing the company very closely. “We are extremely pleased that the takeover of WFL has finally come about. It forms an optimal as well as a strategic addition to our operations in the Far East. Next to industrial goods and consumer goods, our focus will from now on also include fashion and eCommerce. In the end, this will help us to strengthen especially our key operations in contract logistics.”
World Fashion was founded by Gianmaria Beretti in 2005. The 45-year-old Italian who will become the Managing Director Far East for Fiege is delighted about the shared future and adds: “I am pleased to contribute my network and many years of experience with the Asian market to the Fiege Group. With Fiege and WFL, two enterprises have found each other that are a perfect match. Together, they embody everything it takes to write a joint success story in the Asian market.”
