FIEGE and Continental further strengthen their cooperation
The logistics company, FIEGE and the tire maker, Continental have been working together in tire logistics for over 20 years. At the location in Bellheim, FIEGE will now also oversee the delivery to customers of Continental based in Germany’s south.
FIEGE and Continental recently strengthened their long-time cooperation even further. The Hanover-based tire maker will be counting on FIEGE for the delivery to its customers based in Germany’s south from its Bellheim location in Rhineland-Palatinate. The contract logistics company will oversee warehousing and distribution services for Continental in Bellheim.
“We are pleased to further intensify our partnership with our long-standing client, Continental”, says Christian Thiemann, Managing Director Industry & Tires at FIEGE. “From our location in Bellheim we vouch for the continuous, high supply standards to Continental customers in Germany’s south, offering an even better service.” Close attention is given to direct delivery with our own fleet of vehicles for short-distance traffic, Thiemann explains, “to constantly optimise the transport chain and secure a high level of customer satisfaction.”
To reduce CO2 emissions of deliveries to customers, FIEGE and Continental are trialling the use of electric Sprinter vans for the delivery of tires in a shared pilot project. The vehicles’ reach is somewhere between 130 and 150 kilometres. “The trial with the e-Sprinter is an exciting project and we are hoping to gain a lot of valuable experience on how we can create even more sustainable logistical processes in the future”, Thiemann says.
The long-time partnership between FIEGE and Continental started well over 20 years ago. Hanover is the home of the tire maker and one of the locations where the two companies work together. Mirco Brodthage, Head of Replacement Tire operations in Germany at Continental, comments on the expansion of the cooperation as follows: “For over two decades, FIEGE has been by our side – a seasoned expert with a track record in logistics for tires as well as vast experience in the market. By growing the Bellheim location, this partnership also lastingly benefits our customers in Germany’s south.”
