FIEGE wins German Sustainability Award
The FIEGE Group has won the German Sustainability Award – Company for the Transport and Logistics Sector category. The jury’s decision praised the “particularly effective and exemplary contributions to transformation” of the Greven family business.
Sustainable success: the FIEGE Group is honoured with the German Sustainability Award. The logistics company from Greven in Westphalia placed first in this year’s Transport and Logistics Sector category after being one of the three finalists in 2023.
The jury explained that its decision was also due to FIEGE’s “particularly effective and exemplary contributions to transformation.” The family business thus “became a role model and set the right signs within its sector and beyond.” For example, FIEGE invested early in electric heavy-duty trucks, focussed especially on the development of sustainable logistics properties and joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) last year. The official ceremony for the 17th German Sustainability Award – Company will take place on 28 November 2024 during the German Sustainability Day held in Düsseldorf.
Felix Fiege, who runs the fifth-generation, 150-year-old family business with his cousin, Jens Fiege says: “The award is a wonderful recognition for us and demonstrates that our commitment to sustainability is being noticed. I am especially pleased for our employees, as they have actively co-shaped our sustainability strategy and action it every single day. To them, this award is an invaluable acknowledgement of their daily work.” And Sandra Achternbusch, Executive Director Corporate Sustainability at FIEGE explains: “Receiving the German Sustainability Award shows us that we are on the right pathway. At the same time, for us as a service provider, this award serves most and for all as an incentive to continue on this path in unison with our clients and suppliers, as we are far from having reached our goal and still have quite a road ahead of us.”
With a total of six competitions – including Company – and around 3,000 invitees to the closing events, the German Sustainability Award is deemed the most comprehensive prize of its kind in Europe. Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. is the association that has been awarding the prize since 2008.
