The department store chain Galeria and the logistics company FIEGE are expanding their long-standing business partnership. FIEGE will handle business operations at the centralised warehouse as well as transportation to the branches for Galeria.

Galeria and FIEGE are expanding their partnership. Both sides have agreed to the long-term continuation of their business venture and together, will be charting a new path. Going forward, FIEGE will be managing all logistical processes for Galeria from the central warehouse in Unna, to create more efficient inventory and functionality structures. Moreover, the warehouse management system and the integration with other systems at Galeria will be updated.

“Against the background of Galeria’s restructuring, we needed to optimise our logistics and adjust everything to the new situation accordingly”, Moritz Winter, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Galeria says. “For this reason, we had to do a lot of fine-tuning. As a result, we have now achieved a further milestone in our restructuring. The adjustments allow us to focus on the department store as our core operation as well as those supply chain functions that are needed in that regard.”

Therefore, the current joint venture structures will transition to a 3PL framework. In the future, FIEGE will handle business operations at the centralised warehouse as well as transportation to the Galeria branches. “We are excited to continue to have FIEGE by our side as an innovative and dependable partner”, Winter stated.

Felix Hettlage, Managing Director FIEGE Retail, adds: “These past years have seen us meet quite a few challenges together with Galeria in addition to also strongly consolidating our logistics. These new structures will result in our shared processes becoming even faster and more efficient. We look forward to taking the next step with Galeria.”
