FIEGE honoured for innovative HR work

FIEGE für innovative Personalarbeit ausgezeichnet

Every three years since 2008, Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Steinfurt honours special projects, concepts and ideas in HR work with the "Betriebsplus" competition. This year, the first place in the category of companies with more than 250 employees goes to FIEGE.

People at the centre: FIEGE has been honoured by the Steinfurt Economic Development Agency (WESt) for its HR work. In the "Betriebsplus 2024" competition, FIEGE took first place among companies with more than 250 employees. The prize was awarded for the concept "Transformation of Human Resources towards a People & Culture Vision with the help of the People & Culture Index".

Alexander Neudorf, Executive Director People & Culture at FIEGE, says: "Two years ago, we launched a far-reaching transformation project and completely redefined our former Human Resources division, which has now become People & Culture. At the centre of this project is our People & Culture Index, which we are using to actively shape our transformation towards a people-centric corporate culture. The fact that we have now been recognised for this by WESt is, on the one hand, a great confirmation for us that we have taken the right path. Above all, however, the award motivates us to continue resolutely on our path. We want to be the best possible employer today and in the future for our more than 22,000 colleagues worldwide - and of course we also want to impress potential candidates with our corporate culture and be perceived by them as an attractive employer."

With the People & Culture Index, the family-owned company FIEGE ensures that this goal is not only clearly formulated, but also measurable. Through regular self-assessments of all FIEGE units, measures are derived to ensure and increase employee satisfaction. The index transparently measures progress in the areas of talent recruitment ("WIN"), employee retention ("KEEP"), employee development ("DEVELOP") and the creation of a strong corporate culture ("CULTURE").

In the jury's statement, Dr Udo Westermann from future e.V./CSR-Kompetenzzentrum Münsterland emphasises the particular challenges in a company as large as FIEGE: "It is an art to create a link between the corporate values formulated in the mission statement and the individual requirements of the employees on a day-to-day basis. During the application process, it became clear that FIEGE's aim with the People & Culture Index is not to 'produce' a presentable figure, but to develop an honest metric for improvements that are geared towards the needs of employees."
